Anthology of Poems

Hey there, my wonderful friends!

I hope you’re all doing great! I wanted to take a moment to apologize for not being as active on this platform as I used to be. But don’t worry, there’s a good reason behind it! I’ve been diligently working on something special that I’m excited to share with you all.

Guess what? I’m in the process of putting together an incredible anthology! It will feature the most beloved poems from my blog, carefully selected with the help of your support, comments, and likes. Without you, none of this would be possible!

Now, here’s where I need your continued support. I plan to publish this anthology on Amazon and to add an extra sprinkle of delight, I aim to release it on my upcoming birthday! It would mean the world to me if you could join me on this journey by checking out and grabbing a copy of my anthology.

Your encouragement and companionship have been invaluable throughout my blogging adventure, and I feel incredibly grateful for every one of you. Together, let’s celebrate the power of poetry and embark on this exciting next chapter!

Thank you in advance for your unwavering support. I’m truly excited about this project and can’t wait to share it with all of you. Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s make this anthology a beautiful tribute to our shared love for words.

Sending my heartfelt appreciation,

Ridwan Akinkunmi AJAGBE.

D is for Distance

6ft deep,
Socially distant.

Adam, the father.
Dangote just a distant cousin.

Shortest distance between me and Canada?
Just a straight line.

I may be ugly up close,
But I’m Handsome from a distance.

Hey Beautiful

So many words rhyme with “my partner”
But my favourite is “together forever”
You’re a walking work of art,
I’m not just referring to your tattoos.
You’re like what Michelangelo will sculpt,
Only much better.
More unique
And especially classy!

Hey Sunshine!
Your beauty is limited to your physique,
But also your charming persona.
Your heart isn’t just a lump of muscle,
I want it to be my home,
A place to reside in forever.
My love for you isn’t just emotions,
But a way of life.

Dreams sometimes becomes reality,
And you make all dreams come alive.
So, cute wonderful lady,
Accept this humble poem as a token of affection.

Stranger in the dark

Half moon lurking in the sky
But still dark,
That I can’t see your eyes.
But I heard your voice.
“Good evening” she said
And that got me high

Ebony beauty clad in black
Still can’t see your face
But I heard your voice.
I fell totally for you
Still can’t see in the dark.

“Can I know her name”
I muttered to myself
Still too dark to see her face
But I’m gone.
I fell in love with a stranger
Without a name
And a face.

Loneliness and Numbered Days

The feeling of loneliness;
Even when you’re with someone.
The feeling of not feeling loved;
Even when the one you love most is near.
The feeling of doom, damage beyond repair;
Even when she is always by your side.

Because you know that the days are numbered.
And she’s going to be yours no more.

That’s when you think of 6 feet underground.
You think of the wonders of a sharp razor.
The alluring spirit of a strong rope tied to a stronger tree.
You think of expired poisons and poisonous products.
You think of just ending it all

Sapiosexual

Every human is unique
Different in their own way
Some male are attracted to physique
When I’d rather look the other way.

Ọmọge dúdú, my black maiden
Arẹwà obìnrin, beautiful damsel
Not so much enticed my your beauty
As I am by your intelligence.

Sapiosexual, is what they call it
My everything, is what I want you to be
Our kids wouldn’t need to prove their IQ
Einstein would be jealous.

So far away from me,
Your beauty wanes
Come to me darling
Let’s make your skin glow.

You’re amazing.
Yes you are
You’re my world
I will give you all of me.

Twilight

When the sun sets, and darkness covers the land, that’s when fear sets in.

Far away towards the horizon
The sun flees
Taking with it, all feelings of security
Come back!
Giant ball of gas
Refuse to heed my pleas?
The sun is deaf, alas!

Briefly glows
Bathing the horizon in blood
Luring me into a false sense of security
And suddenly!
The land is dark.

Where one star occupied a moment ago
Millions filled its space
But too far away to chase away the shadows
that mocks! Only travellers that give chase
Silence, the land is filled with.
Even a pin drop echoes…

Solitude

Just a smile
Or a good natured grin
Is all I need
To make my day splendid.

But I detest company
Want to be left alone.
All my life,
I’ve wanted to grow older
So I can finally be free.

It gladdens my heart
And excites my soul
The long conversations
I have with myself

Moving through the jungle of people
Scanning for a homely face
Like looking in a haystack for a needle
This is not my place

But there’s a day coming
That I will be surrounded by friends and family
But 6 ft deep in the soil
Alone, isolated and separated forever
My eternal dream of solitude

Sometimes, I just wish I am alone in this world.

Perfection

Woke my pen
From its deep slumber
To pen
A few numbers
Of lines, maybe ten.

Through the library I wander
Looking for works of Aristotle
Or older
To put quantity
And describe you, amazing wonder

When reality
Struck me
And engulfed me with the knowledge
That no word
Would be enough
To describe your perfection.

Yearning for you

It is always bleak when the one I love is away

Far away she goes
Leaving me here all alone
Injecting painkillers dose after dose
Writhing in pains all alone.

My heart calls for you
My soul yearning for your presence
With you, the sky is always blue
Massive storms fill the sky in your absence

Around you, I am human
But just a beast when you depart
Do not stay long ma’am!
Come soon, Queen of my heart.
