Haunted By Your Eyes

like the blue moon at night,

you’re my compass

when streetlights die,

you guide my shadows home

like the deep blue sea,

your eyes are haunting and I swim to them,

even as my lungs beg for shore

dark skin princess of enchantment,

you amaze me

your glow turns my fear to worship,

my silence to song

if you are my end,

I still cherish our beginning

Because goodbye can’t erase how you made me feel alive

Loner

The first 24 seconds without you,
I was cool. Calm.
Your words still linger in my mind.

The next 24 minutes without you,
I wasn’t cool. I was disturbed.
So I called, just to hear your voice.

The first 24 hours without you,
I might lose my compass, become irrational.
Then I won’t stop thinking about you.

The loner is outside;
But I’ll be here,
waiting—patiently—for you to come back,
waiting for you to drown me in your affection.

Be happy

As humans, we were meant to be in pairs.
Two eyes to see our partner’s beauty.
Two nostrils to take in their scent
Two take a walk under the moon.

But sometimes, we get matched with wrong pair,
Like a toddler matching the wrong shoes,
And like a toddler we can learn from experience.
We can grow to make better decisions.

“What’s yours will never pass you by”
That’s what were always told.
Don’t cry because it’s over,
But smile because it happened.
Smile because now you’re older, smarter and better!

Smile because no one can direct your affairs,
Laugh because no human can hurt you again!

A different type of pain

When I need you,
And you’re not here.
When I call your cell,
But you’re not there.
When I call your name,
And all I hear is silence;
It’s a different type of pain!

When I fall,
And I’m all alone,
When I fail,
But I can’t count on your support.
When I’m hurt,
But you don’t have my back;
It’s a different type of pain.

I cried in the rain,
I screamed in the shower,
Sadness, anger and frustration permeate my soul,
And you are no where to be found;
It’s a different type of pain.

Astute

What is one word that describes you?

The word I feel describes me perfectly is astute. What does astute mean?

Having or showing an ability to notice and understand things clearly: mentally sharp or clever.

If anything, I am an extremely clever human being. This doesn’t mean I’m proud or so full of myself. I am only answering a prompt and saying the truth as I see it.

Best Compliment

What was the best compliment you’ve received?

Hmm, interesting prompt!

I will pick a review of one of my short stories as the best compliment I’ve ever received. The story is titled Firefly.

In her words (she identifies as a female), she said “you need to see a psychiatrist, because this is too dark to be fiction”.

What. A. Compliment.

For my writing to generate such an amount of fear and uncertainty in a person is a compliment to me.

Negative Feelings

What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

Hmm. Coping with negative feelings. It’s my blog, so I guess this is a safe space.

I sincerely don’t know how to cope with negative feelings. It always affects me. It disturbs me and hold me down.

If you can help me, please my comment section is open.

Life is unfair

There is a phrase that we always throw around when we’re having conversations. It is a common enough saying that it has almost become a proverb in its own right. The phrase? Life is unfair. Yes! Now you see that I’m right about people always throwing it around.

This piece is not about the origin, usage, or accuracy of the phrase. I am writing this to address the “unfairness” of life. Life is never meant to be fair. Life also known as nature, is the epitome of unfairness. The weak are at the mercy of the strong. The good are bullied by the bad. In nature, only the strongest or the most cunny will survive to see the light of the next day.

The design of life is meant to be unfair. Check your fingers and you will agree with me. Even our fingers are not equal. Sharing the same womb does not guarantee the same amount of intelligence or success later in life. The moment you are born weak or with a defect, you are automatically at a disadvantage in the race of life. As a human, being born into a poor family shows you the unfairness of life even before you grow up.

Nature is never meant to be fair. The moment you look around and life is perfect, pinch yourself and wake up from the daydream. Life is unfair. Life is unbalanced. The earliest you accept that the nature of life is unbalanced, the happier you become.

Life is unfair. So, focus on getting as much peace and happiness as you can derive.

Hello, and welcome

To my dedicated readers,
I say hello.
And to my new readers,
I say welcome.
Been a while since I dropped here,
Life has been unfair,
Can’t complain, but that’s why we call it Life.

The romance I always write about has been abolished from my heart.
The pain I write about has suppressed all feelings of hope.
The older we grow, the more difficult it becomes
But we have to move on and continue to struggle
To fight!
To move!
To wake up and keep the cycle going.

Hello You, after every hardship comes ease.

Pain

A million ants nibble on my cerebral cortex,
An unlimited number of Brazilians dancing samba in my brain.
My head is a chaos of thoughts and white noise.
Sometimes, I just wish the brain will split!

The joints in my body want separation,
Every ligament asking for a divorce,
Couldn’t keep the bones and muscles in line,
Sometimes, the pain is unbearable!

I huffed and puffed, and puffed and huffed,
Two minutes work,
And scream I would.
When will this pain stop?

This pain is here to stay,
You just have to learn to live with it
