Hey there, my wonderful friends!
I hope you’re all doing great! I wanted to take a moment to apologize for not being as active on this platform as I used to be. But don’t worry, there’s a good reason behind it! I’ve been diligently working on something special that I’m excited to share with you all.
Guess what? I’m in the process of putting together an incredible anthology! It will feature the most beloved poems from my blog, carefully selected with the help of your support, comments, and likes. Without you, none of this would be possible!
Now, here’s where I need your continued support. I plan to publish this anthology on Amazon and to add an extra sprinkle of delight, I aim to release it on my upcoming birthday! It would mean the world to me if you could join me on this journey by checking out and grabbing a copy of my anthology.
Your encouragement and companionship have been invaluable throughout my blogging adventure, and I feel incredibly grateful for every one of you. Together, let’s celebrate the power of poetry and embark on this exciting next chapter!
Thank you in advance for your unwavering support. I’m truly excited about this project and can’t wait to share it with all of you. Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s make this anthology a beautiful tribute to our shared love for words.
Sending my heartfelt appreciation,
Ridwan Akinkunmi AJAGBE.

If her story had been perfect,
She won’t be here today.
And if his story had been any different,
He would have taken a different way.
All the pains, the hurt, and the heart breaks ;
All led to the his moment.
Right here,
Right now.
The road was full of hate, regrets, laughter and fake love;
Lovers turned strangers and strangers became lovers;
Every other person left you, and some you dumped;
Every other lady left me, and some became estranged;
We’ve loved, and we’ve lost.
But little did we know!
Little did I know what was brewing,
The light at the end of the tunnel is you;
The calm after the storm is you;
The promised land is you;
You’re my today and tomorrow;
And you’re my present and future!
I love you so much Sunshine!
Birthday Girl
To a special human,
Born on the eleventh moon,
A native of the rocky village,
But bred and tutored in the land of the brown roofs.
Born in the South,
And schooled in the North,
She’s a true daughter of the soil.
Happy birthday my wonderful friend, sister;
confidant, colleague, business partner;
gist sharer, smart talker and my twin sister.
I love you like the moon does the sun,
And I wish you the very best of this year,
And the next,
And the next,
From now till forever!
I pray that the Lord Almighty grant you all your heart desires.
I pray that the Lord Almighty perfect your life, marriage, career, and family.
Happy birthday Oreoluwa Oyinloluwa.
Happy Birthday, Oreoluwa!
Decades ago, a beautiful angel was sent down to Earth to mingle among humans. This angel is one of God’s special gift. An angel of immeasurable confidence, gargantuan social skills, divine intelligence, and unspeakable beauty.
When this angel came to be a human. She retained all her heavenly qualities and added more. The imperfections of the human skin made her perfect. Oh! And can she disturb.
Oh.. This piece is not only about how she’s perfect. It’s also about how much of a troublesome fellow she is. Oyinloluwa. The honeyed daughter of the Soyoye Clan.
Oreoluwa. The loving wife of the Akiode Clan. This is your day. Your moment of immense breakthrough is finally here.
I rejoice with you today, tomorrow, and forever!
Happy birthday to you my dear friend. You’re loved as much as a human can love.
To new beginnings (Happy birthday)
New beginnings don’t necessarily mean the eradication of the old. At least, that is what I think.
Decades ago,
On this same date; August 20.
I was born.
Or so I was told.
I started this last year,
And here we are, still not complete.
I guess like the earth I’m living on
Nothing is constant. Always moving.
Constantly changing.
It’s my birthday,
But no new year, new me crap.
At least, not this year.
There are more important things,
Like what exactly?
Happy new year and Happy birthday to me.

From 1 to 359, I have uploaded poems and stories on this blog. This is my 360th blog post. So you can say that I have completed a complete revolution. 360°.
Wow. From heartfelt birthday messages, tear-inducing heartbreak poems, scary poems and stories, love poems, the occasional rantings, and the singular erotic stories. It has been one hell of a ride.
Post number 360. And I am not writing poetry nor spinning a suspense-filled tale. I am here to rant. And upload pictures. And say my thanks.
First and foremost, I give thanks to Almighty Allah who has given me the opportunity to be alive to do this.
To everyone who has been with me since post 001, I am very grateful for the opportunity to write for you.
To everyone that joined me halfway, I am very grateful.
To amazingink, To marieabd, and to every one of the guest writers I’m sincerely grateful for the ride.
To Nimota, Rabiu Aisha, and Teemah Bakar: Thank you for always going through my works and leaving comments.
To Shaka Muslihat and Soyoye Oreoluwa, thanks for always keeping me motivated.
And finally to Soyoye Oreoluwa, thanks for always going through the poems offline, online, and every other line in between.

Father’s Day.
To the father who was there;
And to the one who was never here,
To the father who has a heir
And to the one who never sired.
To the father who was a husband.
And to that father moving around like a band.
To the father who was available to be called papa,
And to the one with myriads of baby mama.
In presence
Or absence
Or in negligence
Or in love and concerned hatred.
Happy father’s day
February 23rd
February 23rd started like any other day,
This happened more than two decades ago
You had no idea what was a birthday
Nor that your existence would boost their ego.
It was, is, and always will be your day!
This is for you, my dear Amigo.
A friend of yours said some things about you
“intelligent, gentle, religious and awesome”
Accurate adjectives? Yes!
But all are understatements.
You are all that. And much more.
I had a dream,
You were in it.
I envisioned a future,
You were there.
As a friend, confidante and tutor!
And much more?
This is coming late,
But it’s better to come late, right?
Than never!

Happy Anniversary Sophocles Writes
Around this time last year (2019), I created this blog and started uploading poems and short stories regularly. It has been an amazing experience for me I have to confess. I was very consistent in the beginning, but along the way my commitment dropped. And for that, I am solely to be blamed.
An avid reader of this blog would have noticed that I am not the only writer her. I have other three amazing authors; Amazing Pen, Marieabd and Bassien. Bassien uploaded just one poem though, but she has lots of works in her draft which she never uploaded. Lol. I miss her here.
Amazing Pen is the first author that joined me, and her posts speaks for her. She is a an awesome poet that focuses more on women rights and support for the girl child. And to you I say thank you so much for being a part of Sophocles Writes.
Marieabd (who also happens to be my crush, that woman is beautiful 😉) joined early this year. And just like me, her works cut across all genres of poetry and majorly on horror stories. Check out her works and I promise you’d be wowed.
I know this space have been dry die quite a while. But I promise to wake up the vibes we’ve always served you on Sophocles Writes. This might be our one year anniversary here, but it’s you (our readers) that we are celebrating.
Cheers to another awesome year of creativity!
