Stories on the radio
I’ve heard a lot of stories
On the radio,
Stories of crisis
And unrest in Edo
Murders and kidnappings
Bombings in Venezuela
Virus outbreak in China
Forest fires in Australia
But I’ve also heard stories
Of weddings and childbirth
Of huge scholarships
And outstanding successes
I’ve heard stories on the radio
The good, the bad and the ugly
And on the radio I learnt
That there is still hope for humanity
I’d have liked to be yours
But the time isn’t right
I’d have liked to make the time now
But I don’t know what is on your mind
So I’ll admire you from afar
And immerse myself in your perfection
Glare at your beauty from yonder
And I am going to be with you sooner or later

A rare gem
“would you go somewhere with me?” I asked
And that changed the trip
Her smile and laugh
Sincere discussion
And friendly conversations!
And I didn’t thank her enough
She is a nice human
But a better angel
Thank you Princess.

Crazy or in love
I made a steel casket
And buried my feelings
Ten feet into the ground
I wasn’t expecting the outcome.
Even the hardest seed
Of them all
Will finally break its dormancy
And what I feel is viable!
How do I know it’s love?
What I am feeling
Is either love
Or insanity.
Crazy in love
Deserve to be loved
I’ve had sacrifices
Burnt away
I’ve loved
And turned away
My shoulders have been cried on
But when I need solace
I was flushed away
Down the drain
The sun is rising
And I need to hope
No matter the situation
I deserve to be loved.

Ode to a secret love
Like the fluid in a coconut,
No one knows the color.
And like the night
Hides its secret well
I will keep this between us
And the fact that you,
Yes! you!
mean a lot to me
Would be guarded safely.
Like a mother protects her child.
What will be will be
I will not fly
If I do not jump.
Icarus or Zeus?
We will find out.
I’ll start the battle of Troy
And the Third World War
probably sign the Paris Treaty
Solely for you.
But for now,
Let’s see where the river flow
Ocean of love?
Or lake of past mistakes?
The dawn is soon upon us.
Whenever I join words
And call it poetry
Everytime I arrange sentences
And declare it a story
You are always there
Encouraging me.
There would be no poet
Without the readers
the real heroes.
You make me feel important
Even the lines are ordinary
I am humbled by your admiration
And emboldened by your acceptance
of my works.
Thank you so much
This is for you.

Stay with me
I’d rather shake the tree
And feed on unripe dates
what will be, will be?
You don’t have to be mine
Just stay with me
we can rewrite destiny
I’d rather have stomach upset
Than sleep hungry!
but I must have you.
If this means my demise
Or your own ending,
then we rest together.

Diastema,
The divide that joins
I’d rather stare at the space
between your teeth
Than be away from thee.
You’re beautiful
Because of your diastema
Or does it make you beautiful?
Ebony beauty,
Wouldn’t you smile?
I love your smile
And it calls to me
This diastema of yours
You don’t need a diastema
to be special
Because you are!
