Guest Post (BASSIEN)

Our Heroes
Out of the ashes,
In the crisis,
Our heroes rise,
With superman gone,
The world is alone,
Our heroes rise,
When humanity crumbles,
Our heroes’ tumbles,
In to save the world,
The search for fame is no more,
When the world was darkening,
They kept the light shining,
When hugs became dangerous,
They looked the danger in the face,
The trauma hits in different phases,
The death toll so intimidating,
Our heroes are still fighting,
Our need for superman is no more,
We are enough to fight and win this war.
Stay home, stay safe.

Apologies

We do things we’re not proud of
Just to show we’re humans
We try to evoke response
From the people we care about.

Silly questions and unruly accusations,
It’s not a way of judging
Just a way of wanting to be closer
Just trying to be of help.

Tight lipped,
Emotions in lock and key
Rarely showing weakness
Doesn’t make you any less human
Or more human
No man is an island.

No! I’m no judge,
I do care a lot. I really do
And I can’t force you until you’re ready.
Morenikeji, pardon me for the errors.

For you, Morenikeji.

Favorite

You were away for ten seconds
It felt like a year,
Last time we talked was yesterday
And it felt like a decade.
To put that in perspective
It’s like I’ve loved you forever.
But have I?

People come
And people leave
But you’re stuck with me
And it’s a good feeling.
Things change and time floats away
But you’re still my favorite.

A vision of ecstasy

A vision of ecstasy
You in my arms,
Watching the sun set
Together. Happy.

A vision of ecstasy
Me and you,
Under the moonlight
Watching the stars
And making fun of the past.

A vision of ecstasy
You are the vision.
Without you,
Neither vision nor ecstasy
Would exist.

Who am I?

To be candid, ten sentences is not nearly enough to talk about my life. The last time I faced a judge, I was charged on more than ten sentences. My face first appeared on the first page of numerous newspapers at the age of sixteen, I had just killed my best friend for humiliating me on FIFA. I made international news for the first time at the age of eighteen, I saved a family of six from their burning apartment singlehandedly.

With great riches, comes greater responsibilities. Most people know me as a loving father, philanthropist, visionary and an oil tycoon. But I pride myself as being the greatest and most experienced anatomist in Earth (I’ve had lots of practice which always includes screaming and blood). My only regret now is not making a visit to the Italian who was the index case of COVID-19 in my country.

Falling in love, again!

Some things happen outside our power;
Things happen we can’t control;
Birth;
Death;
And falling in love;

They all occur once save one;
But falling in love with the right person;
Can make it feel new again.

A taste of vengeance

It does feel good you know
To redress the nuisance that was never addressed
To execute the reprisal meant for their demise
To quench a raging fire, a fire that burns through the depth of the soul

Nothing feels as good;
An unbeatable feeling of vengeance,
A feeling to die for!
No death could be as satisfying as watching your foe dying in a pool of their own blood,
They laughed first, now I laugh last;

All for VENGEANCE

A concert , a leather jacket and a shy girl

Check out this awesome post on Sophocles Writes.

A CONCERT, A LEATHER JACKET AND A SHY GIRL.

After another stressful day at work, I sat down to catch up with the happenings in my State on the television. The Commissioner of Police was given a press release about a widely publicized murder case. A dead body had been found at the back of a stadium which had recently hosted a concert. A concert which I was also fortunate to attend.

As expected from an International act, Davido brought the whole Adamasingba Stadium to life with his performance. On the TV, the Commissioner was lamenting on the lack of evidence to continue with the investigation. I picked up the remote control and changed the channel. Reveling in the music from MTV Base, I picked a leather jacket which I had collected from a shy girl I met at the concert. I killed the shy girl to claim ownership of…

Pink petal

Beautiful but fragile.
Petite but full of grandeur
Full of substance and perfect!

No, not the pink petal
But Princess Ajoke; or is it Aduke?
Aramide? Àbi Abiola?
You’re a gem, and nothing comes close

I can’t wait for the next concert.
