That Positive Energy

Smile! Because you have woken up to another beautiful day to fulfill for purpose; A beautiful morning with a perfect horizon, you just gotta smile!
Dawn to dusk the hustle and bustle, keep that amazing smile on your perfectly created face! You’ve got a temper? Or a bad day? Breathe, let it air out and smile!
Life could be unbearable sometimes, but “There is always light at the end of the tunnel” and only with a positive energy will you be able to see this light;
Headphones plugged, listening to soft jazz, jumping a bus, saying hi to your neighbors, putting a smile on someone’s face; Create a positive energy, smile!
You’ve got a lot of negative energy around you? Take a walk in the park, let the negative energy sway away with the wind; Let yourself be mesmerized by the cool summer breeze; Smile!
You just gotta be happy and smile, because nothing makes you more beautiful!

Pretty bird

You met a hole,
But with you here, I’m whole.
The world is burning;
Turning against itself,
But with your pretty plumes
You shielded me from the nastiest.

Your deep-rooted purity,
Cleaning my guilt-laden subconscious,
Take me high with you
I want to fly the sky,
And always be in your presence.

Stay with me,
My pretty bird.

L and L

This is the first part of a novella I’m planning to post over the course of the next few weeks. I hope you enjoy this piece. Please like, drop a comment and share with fellow story readers. Thank you so much for following my blog.

INTRODUCTION

“the lord works in mysterious ways” Lola said as she snuggled close to Lolu. “Who would have thought I would be under the same roof, same room and under the same blanket with you?” Lola continued.

“I am a charming nigga. I didn’t expect less” Lolu said with his ever charming smile.

Lola replied with a smile as she fixed her gaze on him. His perfect face will make any supermodel jealous. His ebony skin which gleams with beauty, and his full beards which add another layer of perfection to his already handsome features.

“I can stare at your face for a hundred years” Lola thought out loud.

Lolu pulled her closer, planted a kiss on her forehead and drifted off into a sleep. Lola was not offended, after all, she was the one that drained him of all his strength.

“we will go again when you wake up” Lola said as she stood up to prepare breakfast for her husband. She hummed a tune as she walked down to the kitchen. The events of the day before playing in her head. An event that changed their lives forever. Just a day ago, she was a spinster. How time flies.

Help!!!

A lot of words gushed out of my mouth;
But not a word about my inner feelings
I am a brave weak man,
I’m scared of rejection upon rejection
But still, I don’t want to be alone.

I have one,
But it’s like Caligula and Cleopatra
An aberration;
Different season and different seasoning!
But being alone, is the least of my problems.

“Voice out” the order came,
But my voice is drowned in promises
Empty promises.
I met a girl,
She wasn’t right for me.
I started a quest,
Twice now, the pandemic failed me.

It’s dark in here,
Give me light.

Save me

It is dark in here,
Can you light it up?
Even if it’s a matchstick
Light it up,
For as long as it will burn.

The smile is wide,
And laughter is all I spread
I take away your sorrow
With humor, with kindness.
But I need help,
This is me crying out.

It is dark in here,
I need help.
Even if it’s a matchstick,
This is me crying out!

Love? No thanks!

The first sign of love is the loss of wisdom. – Abret

The face that lured me to sleep,
Now keeps me awake all night,
The face that heralded sweet dreams,
Now stars in my darkest nightmares.

Couldn’t keep her out of my mind,
Still can’t get her out of my head.

But I’ve left feelings behind,
And summoned darkness from Tartarus!

Now, I just break hearts like wood,
And feed the broken muscles to my ego.

I combed through the dictionary
To find a word to describe you,
The closest thing I found, philanthropy
Doesn’t even come close to you!
Climbed the seven hills
And swam across the proverbial seven rivers.
Looking for one to match the zeal
In which you spend, oh cheerful giver!

Friends and family wallow in your wealth
Neighbours and community succumb to your charm
I pray for long life and prosperity in sound health,
And goodness and affluence you’ll continue to farm.
A man like you is rare to find,
And an angel like you is unique in the universe.
“Rich and big men are never kind”
But you changed the story from the first verse.

I pray that Allah grant you the best in this world and the hereafter. I pray that Allah grant you all your heart desires and may Allah bless you and your family abundantly. Stay safe and blessed brother.

Shaka Muslihat

It’s the fifth day of June,
Decades ago to this day
She was given birth to:
A legend among men.

Every single day since I’ve met you,
I’ve celebrated you
So today ain’t that special
But you, my dear, are special.

When all of them left,
She is always here
Comforting
Advising
Encouraging
It can only get better.

Happy birthday my lady pundit,
Number one friend.

This is for you.

Just smile; it’s all a lie

Sometimes we show the world the smile, unfiltered happiness and it’s all a lie. A facade. Just like the hope a traveler feel when a mirage is sighted. We smile even though we have no hope. I laugh a lot. Joke a lot. But, deep down, the pain is omnipresent. But I’ll still smile, even though it’s all lies.

A thousand emotions behind your smile,
The pain,
the hurt,
the loneliness:
Yet to the world,
You project calm, control and joy.
On the surface, you’re whole.
Complete, full of life.
But deep inside:
You’re hurt
Broken
Tearing apart and doomed.
Even the light, can’t evict the darkness within
