Àṣàkẹ́ Aramide

It was connection at first sight. This poem is dedicated to a good friend of mine. One of the best baker on the face of earth! I wish you the very best in all of your endeavors Ara.

To Àṣàkẹ́

Tall,lean and proportional
She has a lot of weapons in her arsenal
Her smile,electrocuting
And her beauty is atomic!
Gigantic!
And she has a way of making her smile dramatic!

Her serene personality exudes calm
Or so I was made to believe
What she lacks in smiles
She made up for in beauty
Ebony beauty;the real African queen!
Just a poet saying the obvious!

O. B. A.

Sometime early this year, I asked a good friend of mine to accompany me to the wedding of another friend of mine. Without much ado, she agreed to go with me. And till today, that day is still one of my favorite day in the year 2020. This little piece is for her.

Obadara Barakat A

“would you go somewhere with me?” I asked
And that changed the trip
Her smile and laugh

Sincere discussion
And friendly conversations!
And I didn’t thank her enough

She is a nice human
But a better angel
Thank you Princess.

A Love Trip

I am ready to go
On that journey called love
Maybe I would find food
To fill my hope and trust

I was told I would need a companion
One who is true and sincere
Then I search the globe
And you keep appearing over and over

I am not flattering you
You are my dreams in reality
A voyage to the land of love
Would be blissful with you

Romeo and Juliet would gets jealous
Even valentine would wish
That their love didn’t end in death
When they sight us together

With you just like that
And me just like me
We would make a perfect US
On this love Journey

Abosede

The only thing constant is change. Then there is absolutely no reason to change that which has been constant. This is for you, my sunshine!

Sliding in and out of your DM is bliss
Harbinger of laughter, my source of joy
And Banisher of bad thoughts.
Kleptomaniac? Cause you stole my heart
And I’m ensnared in your web of friendship

People come and go,
But you’ve never left me.
You know so much about me,
Even things that I’ve forgotten.
Your voice,
Your laughter,
Your japes, all herald serenity.
The calm in this sea of chaos.

I’ve searched far and wide,
Even sent Sir Google on a quest.
But to no avail.
And here you are,
An epitome of class and perfection.
Wouldn’t you rather be with me forever?

I want you for as long as forever last,
And I give you my word!

Missive to Dracula

Charming Love,

Thinking about you and the time we spent together as I write you this letter. Our walk on the beach. Splashing water and wading in the shallow part of the sea. Those were the good old days. The days we were both comfortable in the sun when we both move around in the surface world.

Now without you, I’m doomed to roam the earth alone. I would have loved to be with you, but I have to protect you, and I have to keep the humans away from you. I hope you enjoyed your last meal? I promised him wealth beyond his fantasy if he could just sleep in a coffin in my basement for seven days. Forlorn youths are the most gullible.

I will leave the window open tonight. The moon is full and I pray you do relish the view. I love you Dracula.

Yours truly,
Phoenix.

Imagination

Imagination

My ingenuity runs wild and uncontrollable
It took a bold leap
Jumping straight out of my cranium
To line the pages of my papyrus.
My imagination is abstract
But the wetness of the ink

The smell of a freshly opened page:
Is palpable; tangible.

Out and over it spills out
Like an overflowing dam.
And I have to have it contained
Before it runs out of control
      and flood my brain
With too much creativity.

The image

Thanksgiving celebration was amazing; My Husband and our three lovely daughters never looked so happy.

It was winter and it snowed like never before; My husband turned up the heater and retired with our babies to bed. Like a thief in the night, I sneaked into the house, I picked the lock and snuck into my own home, confused right;

Suddenly, I came upon a strange figure; I stared with freight in my heart; It stood there staring back at me with a sickle in its hand and face smeared with red paint; I froze, I didn’t know what to do, as my family slept peacefully upstairs. I became more freightened as it moved closer to me, it increased its pace and came to a halt just in front of the mirror;

As I stared at my image and what I had become, a tear drop rolled down my eyes because I knew it was my family’s turn to die.

Writer’s block

A million thoughts streaming around in my brain,
Even penning a couple of lines is herculean
I am so thirsty despite getting drenched by the rain.

The temperature in my skull is extreme, I’m Martian.
Lot’s of stories dancing around.
But my David is finding it hard to defeat this Titan.

Fictitious tales, random thoughts and daily musings going round and round;
The pen limping across the pages with no obvious destination,
Stressful days and sleepless nights can’t turn this around.

I shoved pen and pencils on an errand across pages; I am a writer by definition.
Creativity is not my nemesis but for the aptly named writer’s block.

Better days ahead.

I woke up to the sound of rain pelting my roof
An unpleasant dream cut short.
Anger mixed with anxiety,
Because reality is undesirable.

Here I lay down,
And like a creepy pervert,
The breeze is trying to unclothe me.
But I stay unbothered

Suddenly, a thousand emotions hit me,
Fear,
Anxiety,
Caution,
Myriad of insecurities flared up,
Regrets, doubts and indecision surfaced.

I shed a tear or two,
Reached out to a beloved,
Pulled myself together and offered a prayer
I know there are better days ahead.

Letter to my love #2

Dear Esme,

Since you refused to tell me your name, I have decided to call you Esme. For now. The first letter you received was three days ago. I know right! How time flies. I noticed you have familiarized yourself with the green and red door. Wondering how I know? I planted cameras in there long before I brought you home my love.

Your face is all over social media, newspapers and almost all cable networks. I am glad the governor’s first daughter is my love. How quaint! But my in-laws seem to think I want a ransom. That is a bit awkward, love. Because I will never result in criminal activities. I brought you here because I love you, not because I want money. Besides I am way richer than your politician father and his government put together. Well, that’s by the way.

The main purpose of this letter is to inform you to prepare for your love. I will be coming in later today to perform my duties as your husband. And I will appreciate it if you thoroughly clean yourself. Or else, you won’t like the consequences.

Your true love,
Phoenix.
