Hey there, my wonderful friends!
I hope you’re all doing great! I wanted to take a moment to apologize for not being as active on this platform as I used to be. But don’t worry, there’s a good reason behind it! I’ve been diligently working on something special that I’m excited to share with you all.
Guess what? I’m in the process of putting together an incredible anthology! It will feature the most beloved poems from my blog, carefully selected with the help of your support, comments, and likes. Without you, none of this would be possible!
Now, here’s where I need your continued support. I plan to publish this anthology on Amazon and to add an extra sprinkle of delight, I aim to release it on my upcoming birthday! It would mean the world to me if you could join me on this journey by checking out and grabbing a copy of my anthology.
Your encouragement and companionship have been invaluable throughout my blogging adventure, and I feel incredibly grateful for every one of you. Together, let’s celebrate the power of poetry and embark on this exciting next chapter!
Thank you in advance for your unwavering support. I’m truly excited about this project and can’t wait to share it with all of you. Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s make this anthology a beautiful tribute to our shared love for words.
Sending my heartfelt appreciation,
Ridwan Akinkunmi AJAGBE.

Happy Anniversary Sophocles Writes
Around this time last year (2019), I created this blog and started uploading poems and short stories regularly. It has been an amazing experience for me I have to confess. I was very consistent in the beginning, but along the way my commitment dropped. And for that, I am solely to be blamed.
An avid reader of this blog would have noticed that I am not the only writer her. I have other three amazing authors; Amazing Pen, Marieabd and Bassien. Bassien uploaded just one poem though, but she has lots of works in her draft which she never uploaded. Lol. I miss her here.
Amazing Pen is the first author that joined me, and her posts speaks for her. She is a an awesome poet that focuses more on women rights and support for the girl child. And to you I say thank you so much for being a part of Sophocles Writes.
Marieabd (who also happens to be my crush, that woman is beautiful 😉) joined early this year. And just like me, her works cut across all genres of poetry and majorly on horror stories. Check out her works and I promise you’d be wowed.
I know this space have been dry die quite a while. But I promise to wake up the vibes we’ve always served you on Sophocles Writes. This might be our one year anniversary here, but it’s you (our readers) that we are celebrating.
Cheers to another awesome year of creativity!
Happy birthday Lawal.
Good things happen to those who wait they say. You don’t have to wait to witness all the good things, the better things and the best things you deserve. And more.

Today’s your birthday brother, and I wish you the very best. I pray that Allah grant you all your heart desires and may Allah bless you and your family abundantly. I pray that Allah grant you beneficial knowledge and retentive memory. I pray that Allah Almighty protect you from harm at all times.
Happy birthday to you friend. Long life and prosperity in sound health and strong eeman. Ameen.
Green
I decided to steer away from the usual poems about love, friendship and heartbreak. This is not me trying to show versatility. But I am trying to create awareness for the little things that counts. I really hope you enjoy it.

Another underrated creation of God
Is the fruit and vegetables
The importance of succulent greens
Is not limited to vitamins
You don’t have to be a botanist
To appreciate the value of carotenes
You want to see into your eighties?
Then consume lots of greens

Stories on the radio
Don’t hold me back
Don’t hold me back from soaring
Locked in this cage, dying
Damaged, choked, not moving
Help me out my darling
Because of you I’m crying
Unnerving
Disheartening
Without you, I’ll be nothing
The sky is large, I’ll be crashing.
Without a companion as amazing
As you my darling
The sky is blue
And my heart wants you.
But my brain is warning against you
This feeling is new!
The Voices #2
Going through hard times
I thought I was alone
Until the voices spoke up
Keeping me company
Navigating life all alone
The good, but mostly the bad times
No one to keep me company
Until the voices spoke up
Until the voices spoke up
I had to do it alone
No love, no recalling old times
I had no one for company
I have no need for company
I have the voices all the time
Call me psycho, but I am not alone
Call me crazy, but I am happy most times.

WATER
Species of many types
Different form of being
Varieties of living and lifeless
All reside in me
I have power
To conquer
To restore
To alleviate
I am everywhere
My existence is germane
Yet sadness comes
When I enlarge my home
Pain creeps in as I get bigger
I am cogent and vital
Yet disastrous
I am indispensable
Yet fatal
I am not a chameleon
I dnt change purpose
I only change forms
I change uses
I am used to survive
Used to alleviate power of fire
Used to cause flood
I rear aquatic animals and plants
Yet my power kills them when I’m too much
My uses define me
It describe my worth
Whether good or bad
I am water

When Will I Be Known?
When will I be known?
Are my works dumb?
What else do I need,
To become one of them
They are writers
Their works are overrated
Their works speaks
Even in their absence
Old they are
Evergreen their pens
Young and wild
Yet unrecognized
I begin to wonder
Are the beautifuls still not birth?
Or the awesome ones
Are yet to die?
